The Highway Supertintendent requests that "drivers give our crews a break" in constuction zones and maintenance areas.

Repairs in Progress:
Pothole repairs remain an ongoing priority. The tremendous occurence and reoccurence of potholes is directly related to the unusually wet weather this year.

Also ongoing: Brush clearing, ditching, road sign replacement and other road maintenance activities.

Other news:
The Highway Department has a staff that includes the Superintendent, four crew members and a clerk. The Department is responsible for the maintenance and safety of approximately fifty miles of Town roads including related infrastructure repairs and snow removal. The annual operating budget of the Highway Department is approximately $920,000 or 58% of the Town's annual operating budget. The highway budget covers personnel, materials, and equipment costs plus an annual contribution to a capital fund for large equipment purchases.
